CRI-FI worked with CM International to review global drivers and trends for the national context of Ireland. The commissioning organisation was Forfás, the national policy advisory body for enterprise and science, Republic of Ireland.
The Foresight project consisted of an analysis of global changes in technology, business, the environment, and society. Through a series of participatory workshops, a group of grand challenges was proposed – where global drivers and trends created needs and questions for the research community nationally.
The work was used by Forfás to inform a broader exercise to identify ‘priority areas of focus for Irish research’. The Research Prioritisation Steering Group identified priority areas for public research and development funding over five years.
