Future Trends and Future Scenarios Reports
Two new reports, co-authored by USW Professor of Strategy and Innovation Martin Rhisiart, say a strong third sector in Wales has a vital role to play in securing a positive future for our society.
The reports also warn that action is needed today to prevent the sector becoming weaker and more fragmented in the coming years.
Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) commissioned the research to look at future trends and scenarios, and the implications for the third sector in Wales. Martin co-authored the reports with Meirion Thomas of Penbryn Consulting and Eva Trier.
The research included a meta-analysis of existing evidence on future trends relevant to Wales and the third sector as well as workshop discussions, interviews and a cross-sector roundtable discussion.
It revealed an increasingly uncertain and complex future, including climate change, fast-changing technology, demographic changes and new relationships between citizens, community groups and public services.
