Assessing technologies and prioritising research areas
The Centre for Research in Futures and Innovation in the South Wales Business School has recently won a tender to carry out a technology futures exercise for the Irish Government. Funded by the Department for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, the project will assess emerging and disruptive technologies, and their potential impact for the economy and society in Ireland. The exercise will be used by the Irish Government to shape and prioritise investments in research and innovation over the coming years.
The project consists of several connected work packages: analysis of emerging technologies, disruptive innovation and business model changes, a Delphi survey on technologies and national challenges, and stakeholder consultation through interviews and workshops. The project is being delivered by the Centre for Research in Futures and Innovation with Z_punkt (consortium lead) and Penbryn Consulting.
